Adrian Melrose
Chartered Accountant
Adrian grew up in South Africa where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) with Deloitte in his early twenties. His articles were served out in the Entrepreneur Services division where he worked with high growth owner managed businesses. His biggest achievement was taking Nandos Chicken from a start-up shop to a flotation on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
Entrepreneur
Having an appetite to be an Entrepreneur himself he left Deloitte to found a technology business that developed a web-based time recording and billing system. The software solution was sold to a number of the Big 5 Accounting practices in Southern Africa and he exited the business to a retired senior executive of Hewlett Packard before setting sail for UK shores.
Management Consultant
After working in London for a KPMG consulting spin-off, Adrian became a Director of Hackett Benchmarking and was involved in process redesign and ERP implementation for clients such as Philps, The Manpower Group and Cendant Corporation.
Technologist & Entrepreneur
In 2003 he co-founded a Media Metrics business that pioneered a technology solution to measure Share of Voice in the global media. This business was sold to Factiva in 2005 which, at that time, was a Dow Jones-Reuters business. It was at that stage he stripped out the technology teams in London and Bulgaria to create a Digital Media Agency that worked for WPP companies and he later exited to a like-minded Canadian web applications developer. He is an investor in Condiment, an Ipswich based marketing agency and The First 65, which develops and owns a portfolio of web companies.
Early Adopter
Adrian can be described as being an early adopter, ideas man and business trouble shooter. His background of being an experienced management consultant, technologist and entrepreneur allows him to help owner managed business grow profitably using a blend of strategic direction, process and technology (in that order).
Father & Farmer
When Adrian’s not wearing his AoB hat, he’s aiming to live self-sufficiently off their small farm in Suffolk where he now lives with his wife, two daughters and a veritable menagerie. Feel free to browse Adrian’s feeds at AdrianMelrose.com
