Food Safari

We’re working with Polly Robinson, the founder of Food Safari, to develop a 5 Year Strategic Growth Plan. Food Safari has become a hub of the local food network in Suffolk and provides a “from field to fork” experience that educates and delights. Polly first approached AoB with her ideas to expand Food Safari’s online presence. Our discovery workshop took Food Safari all the way back to a discussion on brand and business strategy which Polly agreed was the only way to preface an online technology plan.

Polly offers her feedback

Working with AoB has provided me with the motivation and inspiration to take Food Safari up to the next level. Adrian’s ideas, mentorship and commercial nous encouraged me to take a much needed step back from the daily business two years after it was established.  His skill is in adopting a coaching style to help me develop my own ideas rather than selling a preconceived solution.

Potton Hall

AoB’s association with Potton Hall started when they launched their concert series and needed to take their brand online. Like similar owner managed businesses Jeremy & Helen have focussed conscientiously over the past 7 years on their service provision: they’ve established an awe inspiring reputation as a leading classical music venue attracting artists such as Vladimir Ashkenazy. Potton Hall knew what they had to do, but facing financial pressures placed on them by a changing classical music recording industry,  had no budget to hire the professionals they thought they needed to. Worse still, they couldn’t find the time to manage a project learning curve that felt steep, unaffordable and risky.

Admittedly, AoB is eternally grateful to the friendly and very talented team at Condiment who supported Potton Hall with a constrained amount of pro bono design work, but all the other tools we used were free: opensource tools like WordPress, Amiando, Google Apps and MailChimp. Watch this site, or sign up to our newsletter, as AoB will be sharing our tips on how to get these free tools working for your business.

We’re now working on shaving off finance costs: collecting receivables more efficiently and automating back office processes. We’re midst implementing Xero – a web-based accounting package that will reduce the administration burden departing from a manual invoice book,word-processor generated invoices and perpetual paperwork involved in collecting the debtors balances.

Whilst you are about it, dial Potton Hall’s box office number 01728 885 650 and listen to the professional face that a Voipfone solution has brought to their business – all at a setup cost of less than £100.

Helen Hayes says:

We never thought we’d ever have access to someone as experienced in so many facets of running a business as AoB is. When you’re responsible for your own business, you have no choice but to understand all the pressure points and to have found a business consultant who is so hands on, practical and cost conscious is a God-send.  AoB has been our guardian angel and thanks to all Adrian’s efforts we feel the business is tracking towards where we want it to go!

The best news, Helen, is we’ve just begun! You keep the artists and audiences happy and AoB will ensure  your back-office starts to run itself.

V4 Technical

AoB has a mutual client relationship with V4 Technical. V4 Technical are a skilled and highly rated team of Web Developers and Ecommerce experts. They are currently working on a number of projects for SmartApps, AoB’s app incubator.  Reciprocally, AoB has advised V4’s CEO Andy Merrill on aspects relating to V4’s business strategy. Drawing on Adrian Melrose’s experience of running a similarly minded digital media agency, AoB has helped Andy distill his ambitions for growth and specialisation. Andy offers his feedback:

AoB understands V4’s business and the pitfalls and opportunities that lie in waiting. Adrian’s openness, insight and pragmatism means he’s a great sounding board and experienced business mentor. Similarly, working for AoB’s SmartApps division is a pleasure. They bring us inspired ideas and having been on ‘our side of the fence’ they understand how software is manufactured which means the expectation gap and risks are well managed.
